Meet our new community partners

Exciting new community grants will help raise awareness about organ and tissue donation in Australia and encourage more Australians to take the easy step to sign up on the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR).  

Minister responsible for the Organ and Tissue Authority, Dr David Gillespie, announced more than $540,000 for 11 community organisations awarded funding through OTA’s Community Awareness Grants program for 2022.  

Increasing awareness about organ and tissue donation, and encouraging families to talk about donation and registration, is vital to getting more people to say “yes” to donation. Support from our partners across the country helps to share about the importance of organ donation and how easy it is for people to register.  

The community partners will help raise awareness in groups of people that are under-represented on the AODR – including young Australians, First Nations Peoples, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Australians.  

They will provide valuable support for:  

  • National events – annual national community awareness events that reach mass audiences across the country  
  • Media and publicity – media, public relations and digital activities   
  • Research and education projects – research or behavioural change projects, and the development and distribution of education resources.
